The CMA Tower is a high profile LEED certified prestigious development project, located in the new business district of Riyadh. The CMA is considered, till 2021 as the highest tower in Saudi Arabia. The complex is divided mainly into two buildings; The tower, 385 meters high from street level, is comprised of four basement floors, 76 levels, low rise podium and a total built-up area equivalent to 237,000 sqm. Building Roots Co. insured all the concrete works, including 136,830 cum with 34,000 tons for the steel reinforcement which required to be accomplished in a very short period of time, due to the critical function of the project and related to the Saudi economic market center. This project was awarded by Saudi Bin Laden Group SBG. The Tower has a composite concrete structure, between conventional and high tech systems, designed purposely to carry the loads resulting from the very complicated architecture of the project and mainly at the ground floor level where steel columns filled with concrete in inclined positions present and running all the way up, to satisfy the hexagonal shape of the tower plans. The tower comprises of four underground floors, giving the 385m height tower an additional height up to 408m, and the typical floor of the tower comprised of an 850sqm core and 1650sqm floor, giving 2,500 sqm to the total area of tower’s typical floor plan. The Core shuttering had been casted using the latest DOKA technology in the crawling shuttering, allowing to cast one floor level every 5 days and then swiftly moving to the next. Also the rate of casting for each floor using DOKA STAXO / TABLE SYSTEM took about 5 days as well to complete. The tower foundation covers an area exceeding 2,500 sqm and is of 4m depth, involving almost around 12,000 cum of concrete had been casted in 36 hours and considered as one of the unique casting works in terms of volume and casting rapidity, all over the middle east.
