Riyadh Metro

Riyadh Metro is one of the biggest Rapid Transit System in the Middle East and of an international standard, designed to cover the rapid population growth of Riyadh, the Capital of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The Project comprises of six metro lines spanning a total length of 176 kilometers, with 85 stations. – (Blue Line) Olaya – Batha’a with 38 KM distance. “1F5 deep underground Station”. – (Red Line) King Abdullah Road with 25.3 KM distance. – (Orange Line) Al Madina Al Monawara – Prince Saad bin Abdul Rahman Al Awal road, 40.7 KM distance. – (Yellow line) King Khaled International Airport Road, 29.6 KM distance – (Green line) King Abdul Aziz Road 12.9 KM distance. – (Purple Line) Abdul Rahman bin Aouf road – Shiekh Hassan bin Hussain bin Ali road, 30 KM distance. The project will cost $22.5 billion to build. It is scheduled for a light opening in 2019, and the full network is expected to be fully operational in 2021. The new project is expected to be the centerpiece of the city’s public transport system, integrated with an 85-kilometre (53 mi) three-line bus rapid transit (BRT) network. The project will contribute to reducing the number of car trips by nearly 250 thousand trips a day, equivalent to 400 thousand liters of fuel per day, thus reducing the air pollutant emissions in the city. It is expected that the capacity of the project will reach 3.6 million passengers a day. The Project was awarded by ADA (Arriyadh Development Authority) to three consortiums to execute this mega scale project, as follows: – BACS (Bechtel, Al-Mabani, CCC and Siemens). – ANM (ArRiyadh New Mobility a consortium between Salini Impregilo, Larson and Toubro and Nesma in addition to the involvement of Ansaldo STS, Bombardier, IDOM and Warley Parsons). – FAST (FCC, Samsung C&T, Alstom, Strukton, Freyssinet Saudi Arabia, Atkins, Typsa and Setec).

The Project is of international standard at the level of all alternative scales, from quality to safety to the method of statement in execution. Knowing that most reputable architectural firms were involved in the designing of this project , namely Zaha Hadid Architects, Gerber Architekton, and others , Building Roots Co. has the privilege to work with two out of the three consortiums. With ANM ,Building Roots Co. was awarded the execution of the concrete works related to the shallow stations 3D3, 3D1, 3C2, 3G2, 3H1 &3H2, Stabling Yard, Park & Ride, and the deep station 3J2. The whole scope comprises of almost 100,000 cum of cast in situ concrete, with a contract value of SR150M for workmanship and formwork only. 1. Elevated Stations (3C2,3D2,3D3,3G1,3G2 and 3H1 STATION) The Elevated Station are part of 9 elevated Stations of the new Riyadh Metro Line 3 with total built up area for each station 5,828 sqm (basement, mezzanine and deck slab). Station platforms are 14m high with respect to landscape level, and all of them are parallel to the existing roads below them. Stations allow a double pedestrian flow with the main purpose being to allow people to reach the platform level to catch the train, but also allows people to cross the roads, without access to Metro infrastructure, as a pedestrian bridge.

2. Elevated Stations (3D1 STATION) The 3D1 Western Station is one of 9 elevated Stations of the new Riyadh Metro Line 3 with total built up area 7,745 sqm (basement, mezzanine) and cast in-situ 200 LM Viaduct slab (18m width, 145m length and 18m height from ground level). 3. 3A1 PARK&RIDE Concrete works of park and ride building at the new Riyadh Metro Line 3 with ca – pacity of 600 vehicles (Basement, first floor, second floor, third floor, roof floor) with total built up Area 6,500 sqm and 11,564 cum. 4. STABLING YARD AT LINE 03 RIYADH METRO PROJECT Concrete works of stabling yard bridge at the new Riyadh Metro Line 3 – 8 Portal Beams (2.4m Width, 3m Height, 15.5m Length) at Height from ground level 14m – Cast In-Situ Bridge Slab (17m Width, 420m Length and Height 16m from ground level) by using DOKA system for all elements. The site is located in the southeast of downtown Riyadh, on Salah Ad Din Al Ayyubi Road, a main artery road. 5. PIERS AT LINE 03 RIYADH METRO PROJECT Concrete works of 80 piers for precast viaduct slapof the new Riyadh Metro Line 3 Piers heights from 6m to 22m The site is located in the southeast of downtown Riyadh, on Salah Ad Din Al Ayyubi Road, a main artery road.

With BACS Building Roots Co. was awarded the execution of the concrete works related to the deep station 1F5. The whole scope comprises of almost 34,000 cum of cast in situ concrete, with a contract value of SR34M for workmanship and formwork only.
